With 358m, Monte Toro is the highest mountain in Menorca. From the top, you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire island. A must-see if you want to get to discover the interior of Menorca.
The mountain is located in the area of Es Mercadal, in the centre of the island, so from the top you can see the surrounding villages, the bay of Fornells, the south coast, the north coast of the island and some of its lighthouses. Truly spectacular views!
Monte Toro is a religious centre where the sanctuary of the Virgen del Toro is located, built in the 17th century (1670) on the remains of an old Gothic church. You can enter free of charge and contemplate the impressive nave and its three chapels on each side.
In addition, you can enjoy a typical Menorcan meal with views in the restaurant “Sa Posada del Toro” which is located at the top of the hill. It offers a varied menu of the day with an excellent quality/price ratio.

The route to Monte Toro is easy. First you must reach the village of Es Mercadal and then take the road that climbs up to the mountain top. The journey is steep with curves but very easy as there are two wide one-way lanes. On arrival there is a large car park where you can leave your car.
To end the day you can visit Es Mercadal, a charming village located at the foot of Monte Toro. The historic centre of the village is outstanding, you can take a pleasant stroll through its peaceful streets and its traditional houses decorated in white.
We also recommend the excursion to Sa Penya de s’Indio, which we mention here. A route very close to Es Mercadal with three itineraries, ideal for the whole family to enjoy nature.
