At the start of summer and with the school year about to end, the search for activities and summer schools for the younger children begins. From Bonnin Sanso we have looked at the proposal that is planned in the Museum of Menorca from the 3rd to 28th July: a summer school for young explorers from 9 to 13 years with an aim to take a trip through Menorca’s history.
For almost a month, the young explorers will have the opportunity to learn about Menorca’s past in an educational and fun way, in a spectacular building as is the museum that is in Plaza Sant Francesc de Mahón, which we talked about earlier in our blog. There have also been programmed trips to prehistoric sites such as Torre den Galmés, with the participation of archaeologists. This is definitely the best way to learn and enjoy by having it first hand.
It will be through workshops, competitions and role-playing games where the young explorers will recreate what happened on the island, and will live the main events that occurred over three thousand years ago, such as the arrival of the first settlers, the uprising of populations living in the Talayóts or the magnificent Menorca in the XVIII century.
The school has also planned that the explorers can learn to be a good guides in the museum and practice during the exhibition on the famous Menorcan painter Pascual Calbo, which celebrates this year the two hundredth anniversary of his death.
This creative summer school is promoted by the Museum of Menorca under the organization of Sa Xaranga and Amics of the Museum of Menorca, with the support of the Insular Council of Menorca.
