In the third episode of Inspiring Talks, we are honoured to host Marta Vidal, a distinguished lawyer and former Minister of Housing, Territory, and Mobility. With a remarkable career in urban planning, she is widely regarded as one of Menorca’s most influential voices in the field.
With a career shaped by law and entrepreneurship, Marta Vidal has established a distinguished legal practice while also making significant contributions to public service at two different stages. Her initial entry into politics occurred between 2013 and 2015, when she served as Minister of Territory for the Island Council of Menorca. She later assumed the role of Minister of Housing, Territory, and Mobility for the Balearic Government from 2021 to 2022. Both experiences proved to be intellectually demanding, deeply rewarding, and profoundly challenging.
In her first public conversation since transitioning from politics, we explore critical topics, including the often-overlooked complexities of public administration, tourism license moratoriums, the significance of the Island Territorial Plan (PTI), and the pressing housing challenges in Menorca. The conversation also addresses potential solutions, the role of the business sector, the challenges faced by vulnerable property owners, and the issue of illegal occupation (okupación).
Join us for an engaging and insightful conversation with Marta Vidal, set against the backdrop of a remarkable modernist home in Cala Llonga—an extraordinary setting for an in-depth discussion.
