My name is Guillermo García and since October 2015 I have formed part of the Bonnin Sansó team. I have ten years’ commercial experience in urban leasing but today I do not want to write about work-related matters, but rather my grand passion, snooker. It is the supreme form of billiards, and for me, is undoubtedly the most precise technical individual sport in the world. It is played on a table measuring 12 feet (3.57m x 1.78m), and the minimum space required is a room measuring 6.7 m x 4.9 m. So that you can compare the measurement, many of you will have played 8-ball pool in the bar, which is 7 feet (2.36m x 1.35m approx.). It requires an endless number of hours of practice and really, until you stand before a snooker table and hit a few balls, you cannot appreciate the complexity involved in practicing certain shots, effects, strength, distances and positioning.

Snooker in Spain is not that popular, although a few of us loyal fans to the Eurosport channel follow it regularly. It should be noted that for the British it is a very popular sport, after football, and on a par with darts in television audiences. This fact will give you an idea: in 1985 a total of 18.5 million spectators in the United Kingdom watched the final of the World Championship between Dennis Taylor and Steve Davis on the BBC, still today a record in audience for this channel!

Snooker

The rules of snooker were officially formalised in 1884 by Sir Neville Chamberlain. Snooker has 22 balls: one white or “cue-ball”, 15 red balls placed in a triangle and 6 coloured balls (yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and black), each one placed on a specific point of the table. You must first pocket a red ball and then a coloured one, and continue until all the balls are pocketed or we have gained enough points that award us the game or “frame”.

Snooker

I have not missed a single tournament since 2008 and since December 2012 have had a Twitter account specialising in snooker, @Guillemenorca to be informed and interact with fans, bloggers and players. Due to the day-to-day work and consistency, I have managed to include among my followers professionals of the category of Stuart Bingham, Shaun Murphy, Joe Perry, Martin Gould, Michael White, Kyren Wilson, Robert Milkins, Michael Holt, Mark King, Mike Dunn, many of them among the top 16 in the world. I currently have more than 2,200 followers. I also collaborate on Saturday afternoons on a national radio station, Libertad Digital F.M., to talk about tips and making bets. Something I am really proud of has been having the chance to interview two world champions, Shaun Murphy (2005) and Stuart Bingham (2015), as well as idols such as Mark King and Ali Carter.
