- The most important thing is to prepare with sufficient time. If we know what we have to do, it is better not to leave it to the last minute.
- It is important to visualise the new house and think about what we will put in each place.
- It is a good time to get rid of everything that we haven’t used for years. We can take the opportunity to give clothes, toys or books to friends or charity organisations. There must be someone that can use or give your stuff an upcycle. If we are going to move to a smaller home, we will need to get rid of some things or rent an outside storage space.
- You will need to buy or have boxes, bags or suitcases that help in the transport. Transparent plastic boxes are very useful because they help to quickly identify their contents, very useful when starting to unpack and place things. Be careful with large boxes because they can be very heavy and cannot be easily moved. In order for the objects not to move whilst being transported, the box should be lined and filled, though it can be with just of balls made of old newspapers. It is better to use plastic boxes as they are also resistant to damp and are sealed so that the minimum amount of dust enters.
- The first thing to pack should be the objects or clothes that you will not need until after the move.
- At the time of packing boxes, two things are important: pack boxes with the same type of objects/clothes and write on the box what we have put inside and the room in which we will put them.
