This Saturday, 17th July, the new Hauser & Wirth Menorca contemporary art centre was inaugurated in the historic heart of the Illa del Rei, the island located in the harbour of Mahón. Following a conservation project, Hauser & Wirth sensitively reused the existing 18th century naval hospital premises to create the 1.500 square metre art centre. Which is distributed in eight galleries, a store and a restaurant.
The opening exhibition is by artist Mark Bradford, “Masses and Movements.” An exposition in which the artist exhibits an installation of earth globe sculptures, a mural painting and a set of newly created canvases based on a 16th century world map, considered the first to have the denomination “America” printed on it.
The Illa del Rei is situated fifteen minutes by boat from the harbour of Mahón. The entrance is free and trips to the islet will be made with the Yellow Catamarans at a price of 5 euros. You can now book the boat tickets online on its website https://www.hauserwirth.com/
