Discover Cavalleria, the northern beach of Menorca

If you still haven’t visited Cavalleria, you must add this to your list of beaches to visit this summer in Menorca. Its reddish rocks and golden sand situates it at the top of the best beaches of the north coast of Menorca.

The beach of Cavalleria is an unspoilt beach of roughly 500 metres, located in a protected natural environment of the north of Menorca. To its right is Cala Rotja, a bay with less sand than Cavalleria, but just as stunning.

It is also one of the best places to watch the sunset. It is absolutely spectacular to see how the sun sets right in front of you and disappears when it touches the sea.

When to go

For an unforgettable experience, we recommend that you visit Cavalleria when there is no wind or when the wind blows from the south. The northern Tramuntana wind causes strong waves that reach the coast. For this reason, we recommend you check the wind forecast to choose the best day to go.

How to go

To reach the beach of Cavalleria you must head towards Mercadal on Menorca’s main road, and then take the turn towards the northern beaches. From there just follow the signs to the beach and Cavalleria’s lighthouse. A few kilometres ahead, there is a large signposted car park, where you can leave your car or motorbike, free of charge. From there it is only a 400-metre walk to the beach.

To round off the day, when you return from the beach, you can continue by car and visit Cavalleria’s lighthouse, enjoy the panoramic views and have a drink at the bar you will find at the lighthouse. Following is the route of the 5 Menorca’s lighthouses, in case you haven’t visited them yet.
