There are different ways of experiencing Christmas, of sharing moments with the family and traditions around a nativity scene, a big decorated tree or singing carols. Christmas in Menorca always comes full of interesting ideas for all ages and each town has its own calendar of events that are well worth checking out. In any case, from the blog of Discovery Menorca we have selected a list of events not to be missed:
-In Maó we invite you to attend the Song of the Sibyl on the 23th December, a musical event that every year fills the church of Santa María. For children, you should be sure not to miss a performance of Pastorells, performed in the Orfeón Mahonés. In December the Teatre Principal also has a programme of concerts and activities such as the amusing work Taxi, starring our friend Josema Yuste, ambassador and friend of Bonnin Sansó.
-In Ciutadella they hold a musical Christmas with several concerts played by the Municipal Band, the Estel Choir, the Choir boys of Ciutadella or the Capella Davídica. There are always performances of the traditional “Els Pastorets” in the Teatre de Sant Miquel.
-Christmas markets: every year the Christmas markets that are usually held in central Europe make an appearance in Menorca. Good examples are the markets held in Maó, Sant Lluis, Ciutadella and Ferreries.
-Adventure Track: in the town of Es Mercadal an adventure park is organised for children aged 3 to 12 that guarantees loads of fun on these days.
-Ice skating: The Pavelló Menorca in Bintaufa will have an artificial ice rink to delight the whole family.
