At the beginning of July, Menorca will have the race called the Monte Toro Race, a solidarity race for funding. This year FUNDACIÓN AHUCE (Brittle Bone Disease) will be the only beneficiary which will help fund a gene therapy project to be carried out by the CIBERER research group, opening up hopes for the development of advanced therapies for patients with Brittle Bone Disease, a disease that a Menorcan girl suffers from and who is the reason for this race.
Although July is a hot month it has been demonstrated twice before that in this race, it is not important to come first, it is important to participate for the necessary funding for the association. Last year Bonnin Sanso added their grain of sand to this great event, which achieved 1.400 participants.
There are many volunteers who are behind this organization and help the progress of the race. From Civil Protection, to volunteers, business collaborators, runners and of course the organizers and promoters of the race in a day where solidarity of the Menorquíns really stands out.
During the race it is easy to see whole families doing the walking tour, from the smallest in their strollers to the eldest, going at their pace. The easiest route is the juvenile one, with a walk of 400 meters. Second is the green circuit, which climbs to the middle of Monte Toro, with 4.7 kilometers. The longest circuit is red, which climbs the same peak but has a total of 7.6 kilometers. The three circuits are completely accessible because the entire route is on asphalt. There is no excuse for not signing up. Come on everyone! (Online sign-up)
