Camí de Cavalls: from Punta Nati to Ciutadella

The Camí de Cavalls route today will take us from a lighthouse to an obelisk, from Punta Nati to the centre of Ciutadella. The route will cover flat ground and, as in the two previous trails that we have been talking about, it is followed by the so-called dry Menorca, which is where there is no significant high vegetation. On this route the stones will play the leading role, both those that we find during the walk and those that we can observe in the landscape. By the way, the plant that predominates this walk would be the caper, with its intense green leaves, standing out above the white of the calcareous stones. It is worth taking a bag!

The trail starts on the road leading to Punta Nati. For those who have not walked the previous route, we advise you to stop and visit the lighthouse. A few meters from the starting point we will find the well of Punta Nati, a hole in the limestone rocks that looks like a well. As the route passes near the sea, you can enjoy the breathtaking views from over the cliffs.

We leave Ses Truquerias cattle shelter on the left and continue to Punta de Sa Falconera, with another spectacular view from the cliffs. In this area called Bajolí, we can find several small pebble coves and where you can see the typical vegetation of the coast such as Limoniumspp, sea fennel or chives.

Later, we will leave the trail near the sea and after passing near a purifier plant; we find Cala des Corbetar, a perfect place to observe the famous Es Pont d’en Gil, a natural rock bridge that was formed over the years by the erosion of the sea. It is one of the most beautiful photographs on the island. After the bridge we climb the worst part of the whole stretch, that will lead us to another of the impressive offerings that along this trail of Camí de Cavalls gives us, that of the views of Sa Pedra Alta, a incline with an impressive panoramic sight.

The excursion ends with the smooth stretch that runs through a residential and asphalted area. We walk through the urbanizations of Calas Piques and Cala en Blanes to finally arrive in Ciutadella. Your reward could be a good meal in any of the interesting restaurants that are in the city or if you prefer, in the harbour.
