Decorate your house for Christmas

When Christmas comes we really want to enjoy it and this is surely why we become more sentimental and innocent and we are filled with cheer. We dress our homes in Christmas colours because it is a way of sharing this magic that each year changes all of us a little, doesn’t it?

Any space is good to place garlands, a central table decoration, some candles or some lights. Stars, false snow, stockings with gift paper and, of course, a tree and a nativity scene. The dominant colours are reds, greens and gold’s but the combination with white, silver or in natural shades always looks good.

The first place to decorate is the front door, where the garland reigns. You can buy one but a good option is to make them yourself, with wool, bottle corks, leaves joined together and stuck. Another option is to make them with painted clothes pegs in green, red or gold.

The most Christmassy adornments are the Christmas balls, with thousands of types to choose from to buy, or we can let our imagination run wild and paint the balls with Christmas motifs or with faces, also stick glitter on, or fill them with sand, cutting out letters or making them ourselves if we are arty.

For the youngsters at home, having a present every day during advent becomes a non-stop party. We can buy the cardboard advent calendars with chocolates or try to make them ourselves! We can use bought small boxes, envelopes or design spaces with cardboard, recycled boxes or even tubes of card from toilet rolls. The environment will thank us for it. From here on we can paint, stick on coloured paper and above all not forget to put on the day and the little gift.
