For all those who take their holidays out of season and who like diving, Merak Diving offers the chance to discover the depths of Menorca outside of the high season. These underwater sports professionals keep their facilities open 365 days a year, as explained by its head, Xavi Buqué. Merak offer daily departures from their two centres located in Mahon and Fornells by their own boats and with equipment prepared for diving in cold waters, with dry or semi-dry suits for courses and rentals. One of Xavi’s  recommendations if you’re thinking about winter diving is to start by taking the dry suit course. At Merak Diving they believe that you can dive all year round and proof of this is that Menorca is an ideal place where its waters are calm and of course, crystalline at any time of the year.

Xavier Buqué, would recommend diving in 5 locations :

Cavalleria: A virgin beach on the north coast where its sandbanks offer earth colors that contrast with the blue of the sea and the gray and black colors of the surrounding cliffs so characteristic of the north coast of Menorca. Shallow depths are ideal for snorkeling and diving.

S’Escala: Halfway between Mahón and Fornells along the north coast, just before reaching the lighthouse of Favàritx or Capifort (the first lighthouse built with a concrete tower in all the Balearic Islands), you will find this small cove that due to its location belongs to the area of the Natural Park of S’Albufera d’es Grau, which, due to its size, is the most important wetland  of the island. In its clean and transparent waters we find a varied background of sand, rocks and at the surface of water some scattered patches of posidonia grassland. Ideal to contemplate closely the large number of sea urchins that are concentrated especially in the rockiest parts.

Binibequer Nou: With fine sand and turquoise waters, it is protected by a rocky point that sinks into the sea. It has a U shape and is a sea inlet with rocks at low height, sand bottom in its center and seaweed on the sides. This diversity of its depths makes it very attractive for fans of snorkeling and diving.

CARGOL – BINIBEQUER

Binissafúller: It is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island with fishermen’s houses and llaüts rocking in its waters, which gives it a very special charm and beauty. Due to its marine and underwater conditions, it is also ideal for diving lovers.
