In October, the president and founder of our real estate group, Juan Torres, was invited to participate in the most recent Banca March Forum of Family Businesses, organized by Editorial Menorca at the Es Mercadal Convention Centre. The meeting was attended by more than 200 people and Sr Torres had the privilege of sharing the leadership together with the Commercial Director of the footwear company Jaime Mascaro S.A., Lina Mascaró, as well as with the Managing Director of Viatges Magon, Biel Pons. During the day, which was the sixth time of meeting, it became clear that family businesses are the engine and backbone that sustains the local economy. They maintain a social commitment to Menorca, generating employment and wealth to the community and in the particular case of our island, they face the double challenges of insularity or seasonality.
During his speech, the President of Bonnin Sanso gave a review of his professional career – a moving testimony describing his humble origins in Es Mercadal, coming from a family from the Menorcan countryside who worked hard to get ahead (he began work at age 15) and his first steps in the construction and real estate development sector until his decision to open the first office of Bonnin Sanso, on Menorca Avenue. In addition, he described the influence of his wife’s unconditional support combined with the vision that led him to focus on the British public thanks to his command of the language. The subsequent consolidation of the whole group with five offices and the addition of his three children to the front of the business, represents a source of great pride for him. “Our biggest secret is the talent of the 39 people who work with me every day and who know that when someone walks through the door, he or she is an important person who deserves to be treated as such,” explained Juan Torres.
About to turn 66, he revealed that he has no intention of retiring because going to the office every day, was a real pleasure. “I love being able to talk to clients and see that with our work, we contribute to making their dreams come true,” Bonnin Sanso’s president emphasized.
