Decisions that are taken in an instant and that can change the course of your life forever. Mauro Tagliabue and his wife Rita decided to come and live in Menorca less than a year ago, after having lived for more than fifty years in the Lombardy area on Lake Como, Italy. After working half their lives as owners of a music distribution agency, traveling hundreds of miles daily with an agenda full of commitments and more than 150 customers around the world, they realized that they wanted a complete change for a new future.
They saw a magazine that talked about Menorca and they were so fascinated with the island that they decided to put their house and company on the market, to be able to come to live here. With their children already married and left home and with the loss of their beloved dogs, they were left rattling around in an empty house too big for them and decided they wanted a complete change of life. In September they came to Ciutadella and in a few days they bought their house in the old part of town. They returned to Como to deliver the keys of their previous home to the new owners and on January 12, they made the definitive transfer to live in Menorca. The date was special because it matched their wedding anniversary, and so their destiny was set.
The quality of life that they found here, helped by the tranquility and optimism on the part of the Menorca people, had them falling in love with island from the very first moment. They felt fortunate to have discovered Menorca, and perhaps this fortune was the one that made them find work without even looking. One day they found an advertisement in which Bonnin Sanso needed a new sales person for the office in Ciutadella and Mauro decided to send them his curriculum. Within a few weeks, he became part of the team.
Since then, his life has completely changed. He lives fully integrated into the urban centre with his wife, so he can walk to the office, they have celebrated their first Sant Joan as part of the community and they feel that this is the land where they want to stay forever. He cannot ask for more out of life.
