After the lengthy winter, with long periods of rain, Tramontana winds and the cold, what you most wish for is to lie on the hot sand on a warm spring day and to enjoy the beautiful beaches that we have in Menorca. A kind of self-denial that is only satisfied with a happy seaside retreat in calm, hot afternoons as the days start to lengthen. Calm, silent and the stillness of the waves on the shore with a sunset to frame it all.
The water temperature in Menorca in April and May is usually between 15 and 16 ºC, rising a couple of degrees in May. For many this will not be enough to take off and take the first steps into the water. If the sun helps us, the most daring of us will end up diving in without having to think about it or being able to hold our breath. We all know that the best bathing months are really in autumn but during the spring months we will enjoy the privilege of the floral and the environment stirring.
And it is also at this time that we will make small excursions and to reach more distant corners, passing between the wonderful orchids that give us the Mother Nature on this island or some wild asparagus that will serve to make us an omelette on our return.
And where to enjoy these first swims? Why not try for example in Cala Pilar, Cala Trebalúger or Cala Escorxada, Cala Calderer or Sa Torreta. And of course, Cala Macarella, Cala Turqueta or Caló d’enRafalet, taking advantage of the fact that there are practically no tourists. These are just some of the privileges of living in Menorca.
